Wedding Orders

A minimum of 3 month’s notice is preferred. However, we can accept short notice orders subject to availability. Any orders placed using a photo produced by another cake designer will not be copied but we will do our own interpretation of the cake. All designs need to be finalised before the deposit has been paid. Any changes in design after this will be subject to time left before the due date. If a new design is wanted or the amendments are extensive, new pricing will have to be discussed.

A 25% deposit is required for all cakes to ensure that we can save your chosen date. When paying the deposit, we ask that you contact us via telephone, email or Messenger so that we can confirm the booking.

Final Balance Payments
For wedding cakes, the outstanding balance needs to be paid a week before the wedding cake is due, even if the cake is being collected. For birthday cakes, the remaining balance can be paid on collection. If the cake is being delivered, the remaining balance needs to be paid one week before the cake is due.

Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Full payment of the cake is required if the birthday cake is cancelled within 6 days of the celebration date or within 30 days for a wedding cake. All cancellations need to be submitted in writing. On receipt of the cancellation you will be sent a confirmation response with information regarding any money due from you or any money owed to you. If you owe us money, you must pay within 7 days of the date of the confirmation letter. Any unpaid balances will be pursued through the small claims court and customers will be responsible for costs and expenses incurred in this process.

Ingredients
All our cakes are made using the highest quality ingredients.
We recommend that the cakes are eaten on the day of the celebration as that’s when the cake is the freshest. Please consume the cake within 3 days.

Dietary Specifications
Our cakes are made on premises in which nuts are used, every effort is taken to ensure ingredients are kept separate. However, this cannot be guaranteed and cakes may contain traces of nuts and/or nut oil.
We can provide gluten and dairy free cakes by request.

Colour Matching
We cannot guarantee 100% colour match but we will try our best to get the closest to the shade you are after. If you want to get an exact colour match it is best to give us a sample (sending us a picture in the post) so that we can do our best to get an exact match.

Inedible Items
When making models we use cocktail sticks and wires for support. We will let you know in advance if we have used these items so that you can take them out before eating the models. We accept no responsibility for any issues that may occur due to inedible items being left in the cake.

Cake Toppers
If you are placing your own cake topper, please let us know so that we can put supports on the cake underneath where the topper will go. If you place a heavy topper on a cake without any supports, it will sink into the cake. We do not accept any responsibility for any damages caused when placing a topper without letting us know.

Viewing
Cakes are finished the day before or on the day to ensure the cakes are as fresh as possible. We do not send progress photos.

Transportation
When collecting the cake we recommend transporting it in the boot of a car or if it’s a small cake, on the floor in the foot well. Please ensure extra care is taken when driving, especially when taking sharp turns. We do not accept any responsibility for damages caused if the cake is damaged in transit. We do not recommend transporting the cake on someone’s lap, placing cakes on unlevelled seats in a vehicle, leaving the cake inside a hot car for prolonged periods or placing the cake where items can fall onto it. If you require the cake to be fixed we will give you a quote and we will try our best to fix it. Models that are broken will most likely not be able to be repaired as they take a couple of days to dry.

Storage
Sugar paste cakes can start to get air bubbles if left in a humid room. They need to be stored in a cool dry place away from sunlight. If water is splashed on the cake, the colours can melt the cake and also cause the colours to run. If the whole cake is not consumed at the event, please put cling film over the exposed cakes to keep it fresh. Please do not put in the fridge as the colour starts to run and it also starts to dry out.
Buttercream cakes can melt in warm temperatures so please store in the fridge until it is needed.

Disputes
A full refund will not be given if any of the cake has been consumed. A partial refund may be given if the majority of the cake is intact but the cake must be returned. Any refund given is at the discretion of the owner of Julie Craggs Cakes.
All disputes must be made in writing within 24 hours of the planned required date. This is to allow timely investigation of the raised concern.
All cakes that are delivered are photographed from all angles to show quality, we do not accept any responsibility for damages once the cake has been delivered or collected. We are not responsible for levelling or stabilising tables that the cake will go on. If the table is not stable and collapses, we do not accept responsibility.
If the cake is being collected, we do not accept any responsibility for damages incurred while transporting the cake to the venue. This in no way affects your statutory rights.

Publication
We photograph all of our cakes and we reserve the right to use any image for publication at a later date. If we use a personal photo and you do not want us to publish the photos please contact us and let us know.

Return of Hired Equipment
Deposits for equipment are taken at 100% of the cost. If the equipment is damaged we will keep the deposit to replace it. Equipment must be returned 3 days after the event or a £10 per day charge will be incurred.

Changes
Please inform us of any changes or amendments to your details in writing as soon as they happen.
In the unlikely event that we cannot make your cake we will let you know as soon as possible and provide you with details of another cake company that is able to fulfil your order without affecting the price or quality.
